You Are Here to Love Your Skin

you are here to love your skin

Our Mission

At T-BOSC, we aim to provide you with well-researched and thorough information about natural and organic skincare. We want to help you find non-toxic products that work and teach you how to use them. We want to show you that you can have effective skincare made with plant-based ingredients.

What Does it Mean to Love Your Skin?

#1 - It means to love yourself for who you are, it means accepting and honoring the skin you are in, flaws and all. The love you show your skin is a reflection of the love you have for yourself. We don’t have to change our skin to be happy, we are happy already, but we can nurture our skin, learn to understand it, to give it what it needs to look its best.

#2 - To love your skin is to learn to understand it, how it works, what it likes and doesn’t like. Your skin is unique to you, tune into it, observe and listen to it. Create a loving relationship with your skin, you take care of it because it takes care of you.

#3 - Loving your skin also means loving the planet and the other people on it. It is understanding that the choices you make affect other people and they have an effect on nature. It is choosing to support skin care companies that take the environment into consideration, that have fair working conditions and pay good wages. It is about supporting companies who care, who are proactive.

Loving your skin is a lifestyle choice, it is a motto, a mantra; to love who you are, listen to and support yourself, and to make choices that empower you. You can stand for something and be proud of it.

You stand for clean water, healthy soil, organic food, fair wages, happy people. You want to support small businesses who care about the choices they make, care about their employees and sourcing, and the impact they have on the environment.

    Dear Maria and Andrea,

You girls are awesome and thanks a ton for such great info on skin care!

I am wondering what oil would be best for dry hair. I am an Indian and have black hair. I used to have really nice an silky hair (people wouldn’t even notice if I didn’t comb for 2 days) but in the last few years the quality has deteriorated and now its even difficult to keep it open. from middle to ends, it s drier. I have bene applying virgin coconut oil but hair masks but to no avail. Please help me!

Hello Ayesha, thanks for your question. Have you tried argan oil? Here is an article about argan oil for hair. Maria wrote an article on overnight oil treatments that you could also check out. I have also heard that doing egg white masks is a good way to soften the hair. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Maria and Andrea,

Is there such a oil for normal/dry mature skin or do they all work the same. Can you mix them all together with a serum or moisturizer or just use alone?

    Many thanks,
    Thelma

Hi Thelma, thanks for your question. There are oils that are better for normal/dry skin. These will be the oils higher in oleic acid. You can learn more about the differences of oils here. I personally love marula oil for dry skin. You can use oils alone or add them to a moisturizer or serum. You can learn how to use marula oil here.

Thanks so much for your reply. Actually the Marula oil is one I cannot find where I live but I have tried the Rosehip Seed oil Avocado, Apricot Kernel oil, Tamanu oil and Jojoba oil…Not sure if I have made a wise choice or not..I have tried Argan oil and grapeseed oil at one time ..No so sure if any of any of this clog pores or not…Hope you can help!

    With thanks,
    Thelma

Any of those oils will work for dry skin 🙂 If you have issues with clogged pores, then you would want to stick to Tamanu, Argan or Jojoba. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi Andrea, thanks for you reply. I was just wondering if any of the oils penetrate the skin or just set on the top of the face ?

    Thanks,
    Thelma

Hi Thelma, I honestly don’t know. I have heard that oils penetrate the skin, but I have no proof. There was one study done that showed almond oil penetrated the furthest into the skin.

With that being said, even though the oils may not penetrate past the first couple layers of skin, they do help prevent water loss and keep the skin hydrated 🙂

Hi Maria or Andrea, would you prefer just using one oil on the face alone or in combination with other oils? Just hope I am not asking to many question? I just love this site!

    Thanks again,
    Thelma

There are never too many questions Themla 🙂 We are here to help! How many oils you use is really up to personal preference. It is easier to use just one oil, but sometimes people like to create a blend. Some oils can be heavy, so people like to mix in a lighter oil so that the oils don’t feel greasy on the skin. It takes experimentation to find what you like. I really love some of the oils blends I have used, but I also like using prickly pear oil on its own.

    Thanks Thelma

I don’t know much about Milia. I have read a bit about it and it seems that some heavy creams or oils may contribute to Milia around the eyes. There are different opinions out there, some people say that cosmetics have nothing to do with Milia, other people say they can cause it. I don’t think there is any one oil that could cause it. I think if you are prone to it, any oil could cause it. A lighter oil may be better than a rich, heavy oil. Something higher in lincoleic acid would be lighter in consistency.

Hi girls , love your website and wish you well for the future.

If you could help with my question it would be appreciated. I live in Tasmania, Australia. I am a mature lady of 57yrs young. My issue is wrinkles around my lips. I am not a smoker but I don’t drink a lot of water and my lips always seem dry.
I have tried several products that do nothing.
I would really love to try these essential oils. Can you please advise what the best essential oil I can use. My face is normal / dry skin.

Hi Jules, thanks for stopping in 🙂 Are you wanting to use essential oils to combat wrinkles around your lips?

We have a few articles about essential oils that you may want to check out:
      – The 10 Best Anti-Aging Essential Oils
      – The Best Essential Oils for Skin Care
      – Essential Oils That Tighten Skin

For your skin type I would recommend Rose essential oil. You can learn more here. I would also recommend upping your water intake. You need to hydrate within as well as hydrate externally.

Hi! I left this question for you before somewhere else and you probably answered it – but I can’t find where it was posted- so I’ll re-post it again because I really value your advice/opinion: I love the lightness of Giorgio Armani’s Maestro foundation. I can’t find any “green” liquid foundation that is similar. I have tried many: Kjaer Weis; RMS; Gressa; 100% Pure; Fitglow; Juice Beauty- but none seem to offer me the lightweight, flawless coverage. Any ideas? Thanks, Gayle

Hi Gayle, I did answer your question, you can see my answer here. Here is a copy/paste of my response: “Hi Gayle, I have not tried Giorio Armani’s Maestro so I am not sure if I can be much help. I really like ILIA’s tinted moisturizer for its light coverage, but you may have tried that already. Have you tried anything by Sappho? They have a light, liquid foundation. Gressa makes a nice, light foundation as well. I will ask my green beauty friends if they can recommend anything and get back to you”

I asked some friends in the green beauty industry and here are some responses I got: Gressa is a super light foundation, my friend says she only uses 3 drops and gets super great coverage. My other friend suggested 14e, INIKA, and Sappho.

I hope that answers your question! Let me know if you have any others.
