I recently did an organic beauty splurge, and I tacked on some samples. I wanted to give some makeup a try. I like getting samples of makeup because then you can see if you like a color before you buy it. This is especially helpful when buying online.
The sample I ordered was a lovely pink color called Funnel of Love from a brand named ILIA Beauty. I have heard rave reviews about ILIA’s lipstick so I had to try it for myself.
The color I decided to try is a nice dusty pink, I wanted something I could wear frequently, something that wasn’t too brash.
I was pleasantly surprised by the color.
My Thoughts
I love the color! I am so glad I choose the one I did, it honestly looks good and I don’t feel like I am wearing something really obvious. It is a subtle prettiness, which I am totally about.
I don’t wear makeup that often, more for special occasions. The big reason I don’t wear makeup is that I want to avoid all the toxins in it.
Now that I know that there are organic lines out there that work, I want to stock up on some makeup essentials.
This color will become one of those essentials. I could wear this color for any occasion. It is a semi-matte lipstick, which I like, I am not a fan of too much shine.
The smell was light, it didn’t stink. It didn’t feel heavy on my lips, and it didn’t taste bad. Some lipsticks are just gross, they feel like heavy muck on my lips, I can smell the chemical scent and I hate the taste they put in my mouth.
This lipstick was not like that. I could feel it on my lips, but it wasn’t a heavy feeling. The color lasted for quite a long time, there was enough pigment for hours of wear.
I could see why women use lip conditioners before applying their lipstick, my lips were a bit dry and the lipstick accentuated the dryness.
Pros:
- ingredients I can feel good about
- lovely color
- the other colors in this line look just as nice
- wasn’t heavy
- didn’t stink or smell chemically
- didn’t taste bad
- recycled aluminum packaging
- made by a fellow Canadian
Cons:
- my lips were dry and this lipstick is a bit dry
- almost need a lip conditioner as well
- it is pricey, but if I use the color all the time, it is worth it
