Au Naturale Cosmetics Eye Enhancing Palette For Blue Eyes Review

This company sources most of it's ingredients locally and has a personal relationship with all of it's ingredient suppliers. Au Naturale gives back by using 10% of their sales to help fund Zambia Open Community Schools, who provide education in Zambia for those who cannot afford it.

I contacted Au Naturale because I liked their brand philosophy and I wanted to try their cosmetics. They were happy to send me a product to try so I choose the blue eye enhancing palette.  I do not have blue eyes, but my daughter does. She is just starting to get into using makeup and she was more than happy to try out some new products!

We opened the package and promptly took photos. These photos then somehow got lost - total bummer ( I took new photos so don't worry).

I think it is so important for my daughter to learn about toxic vs non-toxic makeup and skin care, so I love to involve her in my blogging activities 🙂 I was happy to provide my daughter with some new makeup, and she was happy to let me take photos of her wearing the makeup. Total win-win situation right here.

Included in the Eye Enhancing Palette for Blue Eyes is:

The Eye Shadows

There are four eye shadows included in this kit, each comes in a little 5 gram plastic container containing 1 gram of product. The eye shadows are pure mineral pigments with no fillers.

These fine powders that are best applied with a brush, so it is awesome that this kit includes brushes.  ​Shadow application is easy and the colors are great. They work really well on my daughter's blue eyes, making her eye color pop.

Mineral eye powders can be used dry for lighter coverage and wet for a darker tone or for use as an eyeliner. These colors are buildable, they stay put and don't move around when you try to apply a new layer.

Each of the colors has a bit of shine and a hint of sparkle.

The eyeliner pencil that comes with this kit is a coppery-brown. It works well enough, though my daughter prefers to use a black liquid eyeliner.

This pencil sharpened alright, it did crumble a bit. Best to put it in the freezer before sharpening. ​

The Brushes

There are two vegan-friendly brushes included in this kit. Both of them are very soft, have a good amount of bristles and apply powder shadows well.

The All-Over shadow brush is designed to gently apply eye products with even and controlled distribution all over the eyelid.

The Crease Shadow brush is for precise shadow application or for controlled blending.

Powder Eye Shadows:

Ingredients: Iron Oxides, Silica, Zinc Oxide, Mica.

Au Naturale eye shadows are paraben-free, fragrance-free, gluten-free, bismuth oxychloride-free, non-nano, carmine-free, vegan, cruelty-free and made in the USA.

Eye Liner Pencil:

Organic Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Organic Simmondsia Chinsis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Organic Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Wax, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oleoresin, Kaolinite, Iron Oxides, Mica.

These Eye Liner Pencils are formulated without gluten, parabens, fillers, animal by-products, synthetic preservatives or toxins. They are 100% natural, cruelty-free, vegan and made in the USA.

How Well Does it Work?

The eye shadows work well, they have good coverage and layering capabilities. I love that this kit includes 2 high-quality brushes and an eye pencil.

How Does The Product Compare to Similar Products?

Not all mineral makeup is created equal. Many powdered mineral makeups contain bismuth oxychloride, a potentially irritating substance. Au Naturale does not use this compound in their products.

Nano-particles are sometimes used in mineral makeup and there is worry that these super-tiny particles can get inhaled through the lungs or absorbed through the skin.  Au Naturale stays away from nano-particles.

The only product with a shelf life is the eye pencil. It should be used within 6 months. The eye shadows will never go bad and the brushes should last you many years.

Final Thoughts

I think this is a great eye palette, especially for someone who is just starting out with mineral eye makeup. The colors are well suited to enhance a blue eye color and they can be worn for a subtle, day look or a more daring, night look.
