The Magic Solution To Cleansing Your Skin, Irritation-free!
It’s on-trend now, and its popularity spreads pretty fast among all beauty addicts, but what is Micellar water exactly?
Today I’d like to review this magical water that apparently works wonders for your skin, cleansing it thoroughly with zero irritation. We’ll talk about benefits and how to incorporate the micellar water in your skin regime. Let’s get onto it then, shall we?
When I first heard about this “water” I associated it with some liquid filled with a bunch of chemicals that’s just like any other make-up remover.
However, when I started noticing how my friends’ faces were clear and glowing and how everyone was getting hyped about it, I decided to do simple research and see what all the fuss is about.
First stop, Wikipedia:
“A micelle or micella is an aggregate of surfactant molecules in a colloidal solution, such as those formed by detergents.”
Well, that is great but unless you’re a chemist or someone who works at a laboratory, this won’t really explain things. So, I decided to ask around and continue my search for the micellar water further where someone will speak my language (in simple words, that is).
Turns out, micellar water consists of micelle molecules that love the dirt on your skin. Namely, when these molecules come in contact with the sebum, dirt, excess oil and traces of makeup that you have accumulated on the surface of your skin, they trap it so you’re able to wipe them away easily and go on with your day.
What’s important to know is that micellar waters don’t contain alcohol or any astringents, hence they won’t irritate your skin or dry it in any way.
How To Choose The Right Micellar Water
Even though there is not a lot of philosophy in this, I felt like I should note that there are several types of these waters for each skin type.
Pay attention when buying, first, you need to find out the skin type your skin belongs to, and then choose your own matching micellar water.

How To Use Micellar Water
MORNING CLEANSE
Even though you’ve probably cleansed your skin before going to sleep, it’s important to freshen it up and clean off the excess oil it produced during the night.
The awesome part is that with micellar water you can do this in only a few minutes, because, well, who has the time to dedicate themselves to a super-lengthy skincare routine when they wake up? Nope, no one!
With this magic water, simply apply on a cotton pad and wipe the pad across your skin. You can do it twice so you are sure that you’ve removed everything.
MAKEUP REMOVER
Having makeup on feels great. You’re able to cover all impurities and get a great-looking face. However, having to clean it off it a bit of a struggle, especially in the night when you’re tired and all you want to do is sleep.
Due to its micelle molecules and their ability to break off dirt and makeup quickly, you can be done with this in minutes.
Just saturate a cotton pad with this water hold the pad over closed eyes for a few seconds or over the rest of your skin and wipe away all the makeup.
Note that sleeping with your makeup on is a major skin care no-no. If you do so, your makeup can mix with the dirt and oils that have built up on the surface of your skin throughout the day—and this can lead to clogged pores, which can lead to breakouts.
MAKEUP TOUCH-UPS
If you’re running late and you don’t have time to remove all your makeup and reapply again, micellar water can again be of help. Simply use a cotton pad or a cotton swab and you’re able to fine tune makeup mistakes that may occur when applying or reapplying eyeliner, mascara, or even lipstick.
DOUBLE CLEANSING
If you’re like me and you want to double check everything just to make sure, you can use micellar water to remove impurities from the surface of your skin, then use a rinse-off cleanser to get rid of any remaining surface impurities. This way you are sure that you’ve removed all the dirt from the surface and off of the deeper layers of your skin.
POST-WORKOUT CLEANSES
If you don’t want to leave the gym sweaty with all the dirt from the streets accumulating on your face, pack a bottle of micellar water with you. Since it doesn’t require you to be anywhere near a sink to use it, micellar waters are great options after your sweat session.
DISINFECTANT
In general, micellar water is an excellent disinfectant when it comes to cleaning your makeup brushes. This product is made to get rid of dirt and oil, so it will help you get rid of all that build up on your makeup brushes effortlessly. And you know how important cleaning the makeup brushes is when it comes to keeping your skin blemishes-free!
