Hey everyone 🙂 I hope your week is off to a good start.

Today we are going to take a break away from providing you with skin care information and do a fun post! A asked some of my favorite natural beauty bloggers some questions that I was curious to hear an answer to.

Four bloggers have been generous enough to take the time to answer my questions. The questions I asked are:

  • What was your fist love in organic skin care?
  • Have you ever tried going – “no-poo?” (not using shampoo)
  • How many products do you use in a day?
  • What product would you recommend for a green beauty newb?
  • What would you do if there was no internet?

Let’s Get to the Answers!

Tara from The Organic Life Blog:natural beauty bloggers - Tara

What was your fist love in organic skin care?

One Love Organics – Brand New Day was one of the first products I ever used to amazing results!!

Have you ever tried going – “no-poo?” (not using shampoo)

Yes! I don’t use any shampoos with sulfate when I do use a ‘poo but going no poo has been the best thing for my hair!

How many products do you use in a day?

Between skincare, body care and makeup probably between 5-10. 🙂

What product would you recommend for a green beauty newb?

Depending on what their skincare needs were I would start them at The Detox Market and figure out where we needed to go from there. But I think every girl should own Gressa Skins foundation and a tube of Waxelene: the petroleum jelly alternative!

What would you do if there was no internet?

Run through many more fields with a ridiculous grin on my face I think 😉

Hope that was helpful! Xoxo

What was your fist love in organic skin care?

I’m afraid it’s nearly impossible to tell. I’ve been using organics for so long that I remember all those not-so-nice textures, not-so-pretty colours and not-quite-there scents that organic cosmetics and make-up used to have years and years ago 🙂 It’s so, so much easier to fall for organic skincare these days!

But thinking back, some of the most game-changing products came from Farfalla, i+m Naturkosmetik, Alima Pure, Dr. Alkaitis, Florascent, Natura Siberica

Oh, and most recently I fell in love with a tox-free, conflict palm oil free mascara by und Gretel, a brand new make-up company based in Berlin. The pigmentation, the texture, the look, the colour payoff, the effect, the wear of that mascara – just wow.

Have you ever tried going – “no-poo?” (not using shampoo)

Yes, in fact, I have.

I don’t believe in cookie cutter solutions, so my finding would be: “no-poo” can work, and it can backfire. It really depends on the individual hair and skin (scalp) condition, and on the individual lifestyle. So my routine right now is washing my hair with a tox-free, organic shampoo whenever needed, means sometimes once in some five days, and sometimes I have to wash my hair two days in a row.

Also, I’m still looking for that perfect, tox-free, pH-value adjusted shampoo.

How many products do you use in a day?

It depends. I like to have a routine that does not depend on a particular product or brand. But let’s say it’s two minimum (shower gel and soap), and up to ridiculously many if I want to have some fun with skincare, fragrance, and make-up 😉

What product would you recommend for a green beauty newb?

No product, but I’d recommend looking at the individual skincare/ health issues and at the conventional products that the person is using most often (body lotion? fragrance? nail polish?) and starting from there.

What would you do if there was no internet?

Excellent question. Firstly, I’d have a depressing phone bill because I’d have to call experts all over the planet to get my research done. Second, I’d probably never have met all the precious people in my life…

…Or maybe we would live in a steampunk world, so there would be an alternative form of the Internet. Yeah, this 😉

Thank you for having me!

Ru from Short Small Sweetnatural beaut bloggers - ru

What was your first love in organic skin care?

My very first organic beauty purchases were skin care from One Love Organics and body products from Osmia Organics. I figured it’s a better place for me to start out at the mid-range price as back then I needed something a bit more high-performing to help with my post-breakout situation.

Have you ever tried going – “no-poo?” (not using shampoo)

Yes I have and was not a happy camper… No-poo is not for everyone and to be honest, I don’t think I can ever go without shampooing my fine hair. When I tried an ACV rinse it didn’t work so well for me either. Now I wash my hair once every 2 days and that’s so much healthier for my hair type.

How many products do you use in a day?

I’ve never really counted but it’s probably around 20 including make-up and body/hair care.

What product would you recommend for a green beauty newb?

This is a huge question and a tough one since everyone has different priorities/preferences. While I started with switching out my skin care, now I’d advise newbies to go with overhauling their body and hair care products first since they cover a larger area and the scalp is one of the more absorbent parts of your body.

What would you do if there was no internet?

That’ll be awesome because that means less distractions for me, and I can spend more time on my personal interests like reading, knitting, or going outside. But I also need my news updates and wind down via Youtube. *dilemma*

Thanks Andrea for including me in your feature!

Catie From Naturalla Beautynatural beauty bloggers - catie

What was your fist love in organic skin care?

I think it was Young Living’s Boswellia Wrinkle Cream.  I was around 18 or 19 with skin that was acting up and my mom gave me some of her moisturizer, which I began using in combination with a natural bar soap.  I’ve never had terrible skin, but a few weeks into that simple routine is the first time I remember really liking my skin.

Have you ever tried going – “no-poo?” (not using shampoo)

Not completely, no.  I’ve washed my hair with baking soda to get rid of build-up and I regularly do apple cider vinegar rinses, but I’ve never gone without shampoo for more than a wash or two.

How many products do you use in a day?

It depends on the day.  If I’m just hanging out at home, it might be as few as three or four.  If I’m showering, doing a full skincare routine, putting on makeup, etc. it can go as high as 20-25 (yikes!)

What product would you recommend for a green beauty newb?

Rather than any specific product, I’d recommend oils in general.  Conventional skincare often teaches us to be afraid of oil, but plant oils are such nutrient-rich ingredients that really feed the skin, so oil-free is hardly ever actually a good idea.  Whether for cleansing or moisturizing, I think everyone could benefit from incorporating oils into their routine!

What would you do if there was no internet?

That’s a tough one!  I’d like to think I’d still be involved in the green beauty world, maybe writing in some other capacity.

And Finally, Me (Andrea) from The Best Organic Skin CareAndrea

What was your fist love in organic skin care?

My first experience with organic skin care was with some  of the “fake” organic brands, brands like Jason and Nature’s Gate. I slowly learned more about ingredients and started looking for purer products. One of my first love’s was Weleda’s Skin Food hand cream. This cream was a life-saver for my dry hands.

Have you ever tried going – “no-poo?” (not using shampoo)

Not fully, I have done baking soda washes and vinegar hair rinses. The idea intrigues me, but I have thick and oily hair, so not sure how well it would work for me.

How many products do you use in a day?

I always use a cleanser on my face 2 times a day. I use a paraben-free, benzoyl peroxide lotion to control my acne and I always use a facial oil or my Rare Indigo Balm by Mahalo. If I plan on going outside I use a sunscreen (right now I am using The Perfect Sunscreen by Consonant). I hardly ever wear makeup.

What product would you recommend for a green beauty newb?

I agree with Catie’s answer above, I think facial oils are a great start into organic skin care, that and some non-toxic shampoo and conditioner are excellent ways to ditch some toxins.

What would you do if there was no internet?

Probably run my own shop or business, I would have more time to make art (you can check out my art here, if you are interested), so I would pursue that more.

Coolio. I love hearing other people’s experiences and seeing the personality of these bloggers shine through in their answers 🙂

If you have never been to these awesome blogs before, make sure you go check them out, it is well worth it.

So how about you? How would you answer these four questions? Leave your answers in the comments below for all to see!

    What a fun post!
    1) I have been using olive oil from Italy since I was a child.
    2) I have gone no poo, but prefer a sulfate free shampoo twice a week.
    3) If I leave my house I use probably 7-8, if I stay home-2.
    4) clean house, visit friends, play with my dogs, bake, draw… everything I do now, just more of it:)
    Thanks for an awesome post!

Interesting how so many have tried no poo… As for me I can get by without a water rinse/wash for about 5 -6 days and I love no poo; hair looks so much better and voluminous with a powdery dry shampoo

Yeah, going no-poo can be a nice break from using shampoo and can give you a chance to get to know your hair and what it’s natural oil production is. I have yet to try a dry shampoo but I would like to give it a go 🙂
