As a professional Electrologist and skin care specialist, I have seen the same skin concerns over and over again. My clients are always concerned with breakouts that come with unwanted hair. When we have an over production of androgen’s we may start to develop unwanted facial hair. And with unwanted hair comes breakouts in the skin caused by ingrown hairs and more irritation to the skin as the hair grows.
It is a viscous cycle. But there is a solution. Over time I have helped many women achieve solutions to these types of skin concerns. You can also use this regime to help prevent ingrown hairs that occur anywhere on the body.
Step 1 : determine if your breakouts are due to hair growth.
How to determine if the breakouts are from the hair growing is very simple. If you continue to see breakouts in the area when the hair is growing (chin) then its very likely its caused by the unwanted hair. You will also be able to determine if you are experiencing breakouts that started around the same time that the hair growth started. I know its a very uncomfortable feeling dealing with these kinds of issues but there is absolutely help to resolve it.
Step 2 : Start a new Skin Care regime following these instructions.
Cleansing:
Start by simply cleansing the face with a gentle cleanser to clear away bacteria that hangs around and spreads due to hair growth. I would strongly suggest Facial Cleanser Tender as Petals by Thesis because it is very gentle and free of any toxins. (synthetic hormones)
Exfoliating:
It is very important to exfoliate the skin to slough off any damaged skin cells that will catch new hair growth and trap them creating an ingrown hair. But be gentle. You will only want to exfoliate 2-3 times per week. And keep the motion and application of your product non abrasive, over stimulation to the skin brings more blood supply loaded with androgen’s and can trigger increased hair growth. But please, don’t worry, you will not experience this if you keep your exfoliating to a minimum. Here are some gentle non abrasive exfoliates I recommend The Advanced Facial Cleansing System by Nourish Organic This is a great tool for gentle exfoliating and helps sofen the skin by massaging. I also recommend the Cherry Honey Facial Scrub by 100% Pure.
Moisturizing:
The most important step to your skin care regime is to moisturize. Why? because it will greatly prevent ingrowns and breakouts. Moisturizing allows the skin to sofen and this will help as the hairs grow to break through the surface of the skin much easier: As if you are lubricating its exit…:) Here are some great moisturizers I recommend, Organic Treatment Oil by Juice Beauty, and Organic SPF 30 Tinted Mineral Moisturizer by Juice Beauty I highly recommend a tinted moisturizer as it will help to cover the breakouts.
Another important consideration is the products themselves. When we use chemical and toxic skin care products we are bringing more of those unwanted synthetic hormones into the body that can contribute to unwanted hair growth.
I know that some of you are thinking, “but how do I get rid of the hair?” I suggest you read my post in regards to permanent hair removal solutions.
In the mean time, working with this skin care regime will help manage the breakout while you are going for your electrolysis treatments.
To a Bright and Beautiful You,
Maria
