June 15, 2017 by Jessica Leave a Comment

And How Using It Effectively Can Give You Better Results

Coconut oil works as a natural skin moisturizer. It absorbs quickly, it is non-greasy and therefore it is a wonderful face cleanser. Amazingly, it is even being classified as one of ideal oil for reducing cellulite and jock itch alongside many skin disorders.

Whereas it is a great solution for almost all skin conditions, the fatty acids in the oil are also best known for reducing both internal and external inflammation. And for this good reason, it is extensively used in many natural beauty products.

What Is Coconut Oil?

Coconut oil is different from other traditional oils in that it’s edible oil extracted from the kernel or meat of matured coconuts harvested from the coconut palm. Because of its high saturated fat content, it is not easily oxidized – and once kept at a temperature of 24˚C, it is capable of lasting up to six months without spoiling.

Coconut oil has got several benefits, not only in tropical countries, where it is in abundance but all over the world. It is popularly used for skin care, hair care, weight loss, treating yeast infection and other diseases as well as improving digestion.

Why Is Coconut Oil So Effective for Skin?

Because coconut oil is natural and does not contain chemicals and other harsh ingredients, it suits almost all skin types. Which is one of the reasons whether your face is oily, dry, sensitive or prone to breakouts, it works as a better remedy. And because of its gentleness on the skin, even moms have also adopted using it on the newest of the newborn babies.

The other reason why coconut oil is effective for skin is that – it contains saturated fats, which give deep, long-lasting moisture that makes the skin silky to touch. Such moisturizing properties gives a skin a better tone and reduces the appearance of skin pores.

A study in the International Journal of Dermatology showed that topical virgin oil decreases water loss in the skin of people with atopic dermatitis- a condition where a skin’s natural moisture – locking barrier doesn’t work well. According to this study, researchers asked 117 people who suffered from dermatitis to use virgin coconut oil on their skin every morning and evening after bathing. After a period of eight weeks, they discovered that there was a 20 – point improvement in their skin’s ability to retain water compared to a 10-point gain of another group that had used mineral oil.

Additionally, coconut oil has a bucket load of vitamin E and proteins –which makes it a powerful alternative for rejuvenating and repairing the skin as well as preventing premature aging and development of wrinkles in the face.
