Thesis Beauty – Oily Skin Review

January 3, 2015 by Andrea 22 Comments

I contacted Thesis Beauty and asked if I could try a sample of some of their products (the benefits of being a blogger) and they said YES. They asked me what I wanted to try, I told them that I would love to test out their cleanser for oily skin or their serum for oily skin. They sent me both! And they sent me full size bottles! (What a generous company).

I have got to say that I LOVE these products! And not just because I got them for free, because when these bottles run out, I am buying more!

What Did I Think?

This is a great cleanser. You only need a tiny squirt to clean your face so it will last a long time. It is very foamy and soft. It feels great on my skin and doesn’t leave it dry at all.

The smell is strong, at first it reminded me of citronella, but it must be the geranium that I am smelling. When I first used it, I didn’t know that it had peppermint oil in it. It made my face tingle and I realized it was because there was peppermint in it. It is very refreshing and cooling.

Pros:

  • awesome ingredients that are safe and effective
  • works well
  • affordable (only 20 bucks)
  • will last a long time
  • cleans my skin
  • leaves my skin feeling refreshed, clean and soft
  • doesn’t dry my skin out
  • comes in a dark glass bottle with a pump

Cons:

  • strong smell that some people may not like
  • you may not like the cooling peppermint

Final Thoughts:

I love Thesis Beauty’s Foaming Facial Cleanser and I will be purchasing it when this bottle runs out. It is a cleanser that is in my price range, has ingredients I can feel good about and has lovely packaging. The ingredients are concentrated and effective, there are no fillers and it really works! I love using it on my face everyday, it is gentle and does not dry my skin out.

I use my benzoyl peroxide after this cleanser, I was worried that the peppermint chill on my skin might not work well with the benzoyl, but there was no irritation using the 2 together so that makes me happy.

April 2015 Update: This cleanser has lasted me a long time, and I still love it, you only need a tiny bit to clean your face! This really is an awesome face wash!

What Did I Think?

This serum is great! I love the oils in it. They are all oils high in linoleic acid, which is great for oily skin. It doesn’t clog my pores, it absorbs well and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. My skin feels nourished and moisturized. The smell is similar to the cleanser. At first it reminded me of bug spray but I am liking it, now that I am used to it. The strong smell tells me that this is a potent blend of pure essential oils.

Pros:

  • doesn’t clog my pores
  • oils are suitable for oily skin
  • moisturizes and heals
  • balances oil production
  • absorbs fairly quickly. My skin feels oily for about 10 minutes, after which, it just feels soft
  • The ingredients are potent and natural
  • comes in a dark glass bottle with a pump
  • affordable (20 bucks)

Cons:

  • I wish it came with a dropper, when I first used it I pumped out too much
  • The smell is strong and some people may not like it

Final Thoughts:

I was really happy to get my hands on an oily skin serum. I have wanted to try one for awhile. Because I use benzoyl peroxide on my face, I need a great moisturizer. I want a moisturizer that will nourish my skin and hopefully counter-act the effects of the benzoyl. I think I have found just that! I will be buying this serum when my bottle runs out. I love the oils in it and I love how it makes my skin feel.

April 2015 Update: This is another great product from Thesis Beauty that has lasted me a long time. I don’t use it everyday, as I like to mix up my products, but I do use it regularly and I love it. It does leave a little shine but not too much, I can wear it under my ILIA Tinted Moisturizer with no problem.

They are great products! I love how the serum nourishes my face. I use benzoyl peroxide to control my acne, which dries my face out. This serum works perfectly to combat the dryness without clogging my pores!

Thanks for sharing this info, think it will definitely come in handy to my son. He actually suffered from Cystic Acne and it was bad, his hormones were very imbalanced and he had to seek chemical peels from a dermatologist. The chemical peels were very helpful, but they were very uncomfortable for my son, he always told me how much they really burned his skin. Luckily, he found a medicine that really helped him out call Tretinoin, but it does make his skin very oily until he washes it off at night when he showers. Anyways if this product could help him with that issue then I would definitely consider buying it for him every time he runs out of it. If the smell is too pungent though, he may not like it though. I say this because he took proactiv before and used only the refining mask, which was mostly based off the tea tree oil serum and sulfuric acid treatment and he really did not like the smell it emitted when he went to bed at night. Anyways, hope it is not like that. I will definitely notify my son about the product (might consider using it myself) and see if he is interested in buying, or hopefully we could try the first batch free if we win the giveaway. We usually don’t win contests but it’d be really awesome if we won 🙂 Sorry for the long message, just wanted to show how much I cared about your post, thanks for providing us with such valuable info xD

Thanks for you post Floridalma! We love to hear our readers stories 🙂
I am sorry to say but, I doubt this product alone will get rid of your son’s acne. I know this because I have acne and the only thing that has gotten rid of it is using benzoyl peroxide. I wish I could find a more natural solution. I do love Thesis Beauty’s cleanser and I enjoy it, I also love using their serum because it counter-acts the drying effects of the benzoyl peroxide. I love that Thesis Beauty has pure products that I can feel good about putting on my face.
