Products You Need to Use for Very Sensitive Skin

When you struggle with very sensitive skin you will find it hard to know what products to use. You might even be nervous to try new products in the fear of your skin reacting.

In this article, you will learn what products you need to use for very sensitive skin. The good news is there are wonderful products that can help you achieve the benefits you want to see from your skin care without the reactions.

What causes sensitive skin?

Our skin can become reactive from sensitivities related to the ingredients in our skin care. We have to be careful what we use on our skin. Some products contain toxins or synthetics that our skin will start to react to. These toxins are poisonous to our skin.

Another reason our skin can become sensitive is from over-stimulation or the wrong kind of activity. We could be overstimulating with exfoliates or chemical stimulation.

When you have over-stimulation to the skin you can bring on a reaction. This happens when we use the wrong products. Many people do not realize that sensitive skin can be very reactive to products like exfoliates or cleansers with abrasive additives. Certain synthetics can cause to much activity in the skin, also resulting in a reaction.

Tips on Skincare for Sensitive Skin

Do not over-stimulate the skin: Sensitive skin can be more reactive when the skin is over-stimulated. Do not use brushes or exfoliates on the skin, anything that manually or chemically stimulates circulation.

Watch out for chemicals and fragrances: Always read the labels of any product you are going to use. Completely avoid products that have added chemicals and fragrances. Read this List of Ingredients To Avoid.

Avoid hot water on the face: Hot water can really irritate sensitive skin, be sure you are using lukewarm water, followed up with a splash of cold.

Reduce the amount of products you use: Although we are recommending products, we are only recommending a few that you will want to use. You will not want to include a lot of different products, just stick to the few that work, with great ingredients.

Heal the skin from within: A great way to help with sensitive skin is to be conscious of what you put in your body. Avoid refined and processed food, drink lots of clean water, get enough sleep and exercise and consume plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Natural ingredients that can help:

  • Chamomile: chamomile calms the skin. It’s a natural anti-inflammatory, and also helps speed up wound healing.
  • Aloe Vera: Perfect for all skin types, aloe is a calming ingredient that naturally helps tame inflammation. It can keep your skin calm and encourage healing after a reaction. Perfect for sensitive skin.
  • Shea Butter: Shea butter is high in vitamin A, a strong antioxidant, necessary for skin tissue repair.
  • Silica: Silica will calm redness and promote new healthy tissue. It works on all connective tissue, rebuilding and protecting.
  • Arnica: Has been known for its healing abilities for centuries. Helps speed healing, calm the skin and relax inflammation and itchy, dry skin.
  • Calendula: Wonderfully calming to the skin, healing and hydrating for all skin types. Calendula has been used to soothe many skin irritations with success like bites, dermatitis, wounds, and eczema.
  • Honey: Honey has natural healing properties that help calm the skin and promote faster recovery. It’s also a natural antibacterial, which means it will help deter acne and infections, and provides a soothing and hydrating benefit.

What products do you need for sensitive skin?

#1: Calm Cream Cleanser

Starting with a cleanser that is gentle and designed to work with sensitive skin is your first step. We all need to keep our skin clean and free of debris. It is very important to consider what cleanser you want to use. Even though a product is marketed to sensitive skin, does not mean you should use it. You have to look at the ingredients. This is going to be the most important consideration.

Cream cleansers are best for sensitive skin. Skin that is reactive can be soothed by gentle cleansers. You do not want to use abrasive or very active cleansers.

Here is the best Cream Cleanser for sensitive skin:

Eminence Chamomile Calm Skin Cleanser is what I recommend to all my clients with sensitive skin. From dermatitis to rosacea. This cleanser is so effective at calming, cleaning and relaxing the skin.

#2: Calm Toner

Toners are important to include in your sensitive skin care regime. It is a must have product that can relieve skin irritation by calming the ph balance and supplying hydration. Toners include amazing ingredients formulated to provide the skin with many benefits.

Using a toner directly after you have cleansed the face will bring the skin back to a relaxed, and calm state. Redness, irritation, and stimulation will all be soothed, giving your skin what it needs after your wash.

Here is the best Calming Toner for sensitive skin

Odacite Devine Rose & Neroli Balancing Toner Mist has the calming and soothing ingredients necessary for sensitive skin. Combating irritation, and reactive skin with Aloe Vera and Neroli.

# 3: Completely Healing Facial Oil

Most people with sensitive skin have a hard time finding the right oil for their skin type. An oil can also sound a bit intimidating, however, oils are so nourishing, soothing and completely healing for reactive skin. You must choose an oil that can penetrate deep into the skins tissues, healing from the inside out.

There is an amazing oil made from a small rare nut on the South Pacific islands called Tamanu oil. This is the oil I recommend as completely healing for sensitive skin.

Here is the best Facial oil for sensitive skin:

Calm Face & Body oil by Tamanu oil lab is my recommended choice for a completely healing facial oil. You will soothe and protect the skin with this marvelous oil. Tamanu oil is also a natural SPF 18-22. It is a very protective oil that reacts easily to the suns rays. I highly recommend you read both articles we have written about this oil.Tamanu Oil Lab Calm Face and Body Oil Review

#4: Silica

I totally recommend replacing your moisturizer for a topical daily treatment of Silica Gel. This is a pure, natural, single ingredient product that can be taken internally as well as topically to help rebuild and heal sensitive skin. Silica will calm redness and promote new healthy tissue. I absolutely love Silica and I always recommend people use it to calm sensitive skin.

You can achieve a great moisture content within the skin using Silica. This is perfect when trying to hydrate the skin.

#5: Mud Mask

Using an exfoliate is not as simple for sensitive skin types as it is for most others. Exfoliates can be the most likely product to cause a reaction to the skin, however, they are so important to include in your skin care regime. So where do mud masks fit into your skin regime?

Amazingly mud masks are the most gentle and effective exfoliates to use for any skin type, especially sensitive and reactive skin. Mud masks will pull away debris and exfoliate the skin without over-stimulating it. Mud masks are also packed with minerals and vitamins that will hydrate and nourish the skin.

Here is the best Mud Mask for sensitive skin:

May Lindstrom Honey Mud is the best mud mask to use for your sensitive skin. it is specially formulated for the most sensitive skin types. Using the calming ingredients of honey (a natural exfoliant), it lifts dirt and impurities, soothing and softening inflamed or irritated skin.

I didn’t know that there were a number of natural ingredients that help keep your skin smooth. I have really sensitive skin and right now I have a lot of problems with dry skin that I want to fix. Hopefully, I can get something to help sooth my skin.

Hello my friends! I think Know your skin type before heading out to buy a beauty product. Find out if you fall within the sensitive, oily, normal or dry skin to help you choose the right product for you.

You state to “Completely avoid products that have added chemicals and fragrances” yet all the products you list contain added fragrances :/ essential oils are still added fragrance and they can be even more irritating to sensitive skin than synthetic fragrance for some people. If you want the soothing chemical compounds of chamomile without the chance for irritation, look for alpha-bisabolol.

Thanks for your comment. It is true essential oils are used as an added fragrance, they can also be irritating to particular people. Essential oils should be diluted and not applied to the skin directly.Essential oils are used as an aid in treating skin conditions that also have a beautiful aroma. They can be used very safely with a bit of information prior to use.

In this article we are providing information to help those with sensitive skin. The idea is to avoid additives that increase sensitivity. One of the best places to start is to read the link provided in the article of “chemical” additives to avoid.
I feel very confident with the products I recommend for people with sensitive skin to use. The essential oils that are added to each product are a part of the overall formula, which purpose is to help treat sensitive skin types. The oils are diluted and safe.
      All the best!
      Maria.
