Natural Psoriasis Treatment- Using Essential Oils

December 19, 2016 by Maria 5 Comments

Thyme Oil

Thyme oil is a highly potent natural antiseptic due to the presence of thymol, making it very effective in treating skin conditions like psoriasis. After mixing thyme oil with carrier oil, it can be applied directly over the affected areas for quick relief.

Geranium Oil

Geranium oil is very effective in revitalizing body tissues and is very beneficial on the skin. That is why it is one of the best essential oils to use as a natural psoriasis treatment.

Rose Oil

Rose oil is very commonly used in curing psoriasis because of its soothing properties. Aside from its pleasant smell, it has strong antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties.

This type of oil provides energy to the mind. As a topical treatment, always blend it with base oil and a slight dab on the affected area will do.

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil is considered a traditional remedy when it comes to psoriasis. It is also regarded as the most versatile therapeutic essential oil. It treats all kinds of skin conditions such as that of psoriasis. Applying lavender oil on the patchy area relieves itching and soothes the dry, flaky skin. It eliminates inflammation and stimulates growth of new skin.

Lavender oil is best mixed with other essential oils like cedarwood, citrus, geranium, patchouli, clary sage, oakmoss, pine, labdanum, vetiver, and certain floral oils.

Helichrysum Oil

Helichrysum oil Otherwise known as “immortelle”, helichrysum oil is an amazing psoriasis treatment that contains antiseptic or anti-microbial and skin-smoothing components. It is specifically used to heal wounds and obtained cuts as well as bruises because of its ability to heal damaged tissue. In addition, helichrysum also aids in preventing wrinkles and blemishes from developing.

Sandalwood Oil

Sandalwood oil has the ability to balance the emotions and the body’s immunity processes. The high levels of santalol contained in sandalwood are perfect for reducing inflammation such as the itching and soreness caused by psoriasis. Its moisturizing properties also help soften the skin.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has been known to treat skin problems because of its anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. The use of it can also help boost the immune system weakened by illness and stress. As those with psoriasis tend to scratch the affected part and cause the patches to bleed, tea tree oil can regenerate the skin cells to reduce any inflammation.

Conclusion

These oils need to be diluted with a carrier oil like jojoba oil. Once blended you can apply your mixture directly to the infected area. Psoriasis is a difficult skin condition to treat if you are not consistent with your application. Apply your mixture twice a day and continue even after the area looks cleared for another week.

Recipe

Add 25 drops of your desired oil to 100mls of your carrier oil. Now apply your mixture to the infected area. It's that simple.

Try ditching the recommended ointments and creams and explore instead, the natural psoriasis treatment – using essential oils. What is so good about using these essential oils is that these come from natural botanical essences of herbal plants, so you are guaranteed not just safety but instant relief and a powerful remedy in using it.

I have been suffering from psoriasis for 30 years now. I know there is no cure. Anything that really works is a blessing as long as there are no side effects. Dermalmd psoriasis serum has helped me greatly. It relieves the horrible itching and pain and decreases flaking. My psoriasis is mainly on my scalp so I apply it at night since that is the worst time for me as far as itching. This serum also has a pleasant smell or fragrance that is mild, not perfumey. I am sensitive to strong fragrance and this is not bothersome to me at all. I would highly recommend anyone to try this as it is not only for psoriasis, but a whole list of skin ailments etc. Read the label and do the small test at first to see if you are allergic to any ingredients. As I have sensitive skin, I did the test with no reaction. It really is an amazing serum.
