Lily Farm Fresh sent me some free products from their balancing line to try out and review. I liked them all. Their cleanser worked well, I really liked the honey mask and the toner was awesome! The moisturizer was super light but hydrating, and they have this really cool oil-free conditioning serum. The whole line is meant to balance fussy, breakout-prone skin. Lily Farm Fresh Balancing Product Line
The balancing line is created for blemished, acne, and combination skin types. This product line helps the skin naturally achieve balance and reduce inflammation and blemishes. Made from healing, anti-inflammatory plants. Included in this review are:
Rejuvenating Enzyme Mask
Balancing Seaweed Facial Cleanser
Balancing Facial Toner
Balancing Facial Lotion
Balancing Oil-Free Skin Conditioning Serum
Rejuvenating Enzyme Mask Review
This honey and papaya enzyme mask works for all skin types. It diminishes fine lines and discoloration while softening the skin and eliminating dead skin cell build-up. This enzyme mask can be used 2 - 3 times a week to revitalize and stimulate new skin.
My Review
I like this mask, it is thick and smells lovely. It has the texture of honey, with a slightly sweet honey scent. When used on its own, I felt it was too thick and hard to apply. I mixed it with a little water to help it spread nicely over my face.
While wearing it, my skin felt good, but I could tell I was wearing something sticky on my face. This isn’t like a clay mask where you can feel it drying and tightening, but there is a slight tightening sensation as you wear it. It was sticky on my face and I had to remind myself not to touch my face while I waited the 25 minutes you are supposed to leave it on.
The Rejuvenating Enzyme Mask washed off easily, with no sticky residue left behind. I could taste a little of the honey on my lips as I washed my face (yummy).
This honey mask left my skin feeling soft and tightened. I love the ingredients that are in it, and the fact that they are all sourced locally. I like that this mask contains both vitamin E and C, as these are potent anti-aging vitamins.
Pros:
sweet honey scent
contains natural enzymes to digest dead skin cells
left my skin feeling soft
non-irritating
doesn’t dry out the skin
Cons:
sticky on your face
Key Ingredients:
Honey naturally pulls moisture to the skin and acts as an anti-bacterial agent
A vegan cleanser for those who suffer from blemishes. It tones, detoxifies and balances the skin. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry but thoroughly cleanses. This cleanser made from a non-detergent, non-drying homemade soap.
My Review:
I like this cleanser, it is nice and light. The cleanser is quite runny and spreads over your skin well. It has a slight foam, enough to get a good cleanse but not excessive like cleansers containing foaming agents.
The scent is strong and herbal, I can really smell all the herbal oils such as tea tree, sage, and rosemary. The scent is almost medicinal, but I like it. It leaves my skin feeling clean but not dried out, which is exactly what you want in a cleanser. The liquid is white and slightly creamy, with a runny consistency.
The only issue I have with this cleanser is that contains Irish moss, a seaweed that is used to thicken products. The problem with Irish moss is that it is high on the comedogenic scale, meaning it is likely to clog pores. People with acne are advised to avoid ingredients that are comedogenic. This ingredient is high on the ingredients list, so it makes up a big part of the product.
Pros:
cleans well
all-natural
gentle and non-drying
Cons:
contains Irish moss, an ingredient that is high on the comedogenic (pore-clogging) scale
Key Ingredients:
Lavender fights bacteria.
Rosemary is antiseptic and stimulates cell growth.
A lovely toner for those who need an extra boost to control breakouts. This toner ensures skin is left squeaky clean, without drying it out. It balances and heals the skin and is best applied with a cotton ball. This toner can be used 3 - 5 times a day to help prevent and dry up breakouts.
My Review:
This is a good toner that works well with the rest of the line. It gives my skin an extra cleaning by removing any dirt, oil, or residue left over after cleansing. My skin doesn’t feel dried out when I use it and it doesn’t sting or make me itchy.
The scent of this product is very minimal, I can’t even smell it when I am applying it to my skin. It does a good job of removing dirt and oil because I can see dirt on my cotton pad when I am done wiping my face. It amazes me how much a cleanser can leave behind, but a cleanser would be too harsh if it stripped everything off.
I really like using toners, I feel like they are an essential step to a clean face. They remove that last little bit of grime that your cleanser doesn’t remove and they deliver nutrients into your pores. I love that this toner contains some wonderful, skin-friendly plants such as comfrey, calendula, horsetail, and nettles. This toner even contains bee propolis, which I thought was really unique.
Pros:
mineral-rich ingredients
non-drying
non-irritating
very light scent
works at taking off dirt and oil
all-natural ingredients
Cons:
None! I love this toner.
Key Ingredients:
Aloe vera helps heal tissue
Witch hazel works as an astringent to tighten pores
Fennel seeds fight bacteria
Comfrey regenerates cell growth
Nettles are abundant in skin assisting minerals
Horsetail is high in silicon, an important element for healthy skin
Balances and moisturizes normal and combination skin. It is perfect for people who want a very light lotion instead of a thick cream.
My Review:
This lotion is so nice and light, it goes on very thin and soaks right into your skin. It has a thin, milky texture and a faintly sweet smell. The smell is quite lovely, like a flower. Ylang ylang and tea tree mix into a scent that I never would have thought could smell so good.
I am not a huge fan of moisturizers, I prefer using facial oils. Moisturizers always break me out, whereas the right facial oil does not. This is a really good moisturizer for someone who wants something really light, but this product (like the cleanser) contains Irish moss, an ingredient that acne-prone folks should avoid because it clogs pores.
Pros:
very light
not too heavy, but still moisturizes well
unique sweet scent
Cons:
contains irish moss, a pore-clogging ingredient
Key Ingredients:
Bee Propolis fights inflammation and acts as an antiseptic
An oil-free moisturizer that replenishes the skin with a blend of 19 herbs. These herbs promote healthy skin and stimulate cell proliferation. This moisturizer uses seaweeds to bring moisture to the skin.
My Review:
I wanted to like this serum. It is supposed to be really good for people who suffer from breakouts as an alternative to moisturizers that contain oil. It has an excellent consistency, thick enough to spread on your skin, but not too thick that it feels like a film on your face. It does moisturize, and your skin is left feeling soft and hydrated. I found though, that my skin did not like it, it made me break out (again, at least for me, facial oils win as my go to moisturizer). [See my favorite facial oil here]
The scent of this product is light and herbal - almost citrusy, it reminds me of lemonade.
I use this product on my body rather than my face. I don’t suffer from acne on my body, so I can use it there. It feels great after being out in the sun or if my skin is dry. This moisturizer is supposed to be good for people dealing with eczema or psoriasis.
Pros:
oil-free moisturizer
nice light scent
absorbs well into the skin
nice and light
cools the skin
Cons:
contains pore-clogging seaweeds
caused me to breakout
Key Ingredients:
Laminaria (kelp) dries easily with amazing shrinkage and as it absorbs into the skin it holds moisture
Lily Farm Fresh is a good company. They source many of their ingredients from their own farm and their products don’t contain anything nasty, they are all-natural and plant-based. I think the balancing product line would be great for people with combination skin, those who don’t suffer from full-blown acne. It is too bad that this line is marketed to those suffering from breakouts when many of the products in the line contain pore-clogging seaweeds.
They are most likely using these seaweeds as thickening agents and natural moisturizers. I would love to know more about whether these seaweeds always clog pores. All I know is that they are on acne avoid lists because they are high on the comedogenic scale. It is unfortunate because seaweeds are so rich in minerals that would be excellent for the skin.
Out of all the products I tried, I liked the toner the best. It was nice and light, didn’t dry out my skin and it removed dirt and grime. The cleanser was good, but it contained a pore-clogger, I liked the enzyme mask and could see myself using it regularly. The moisturizer was still too much for my skin and the oil-free conditioning serum made me breakout.

I love the products of your review. I think toner is one of three steps to clean and moisturize skin so selecting which products is very important. I’ll try it sooner is better
