My Review

My First Impression of the Product

First of all whipped shea butter is one of my favorite products. A must have in the home for so many reasons. I personally favor shea butter to be the best moisturizer for all levels of dryness. Regardless of your skin type, you can use this lovely butter.

Your skin is absolutely nourished and plumped from the inside out. Heavenly luscious! I chose the unscented option mainly for the reason I am using it a lot, and all over. Do not get me wrong, I love aromatic indulgence, however, I was pleased to smother my skin with a scent free shea butter. I can always add a drop or two of my favorite Essential Oils to spice it up a bit.

Scent and Texture

The lovely thing about this whipped shea butter is the fact that it is unscented. This will be perfect for sensitive people, babies or anyone who is wanting a break from an aromatic nourishing cream.

The texture is so beautiful. Light, fluffy and smooth.

Application

The heat of the skin naturally warms up the shea butter, giving it an easy application. The whipped butter becomes more of an oil consistency, absorbing very nicely, leaving no residue behind.

Product Info

Ingredients

  • Jojoba oil. This liquid wax ester is similar to human sebum (the oil our skin produces) and is low on the comedogenic scale (how much it will clog your pores). It absorbs easily and is suitable for all skin types.
  • Refined Shea Butter. Although I mentioned that refined products can mean some of the nutrients have been lost from their pure, raw state. I emailed KYI wanting to know what they meant by refined, and they responded with this great information.

All of KYI's shea butter is sourced from Burkina Faso, Africa. Virgin unrefined shea butter, extracted from the shea nut and left completely unrefined has a pale yellowish color and has a typical odor normally associated with it. The odor of raw, unrefined shea butter is very heavy; some describe it as “smokey” or smells more like burnt rubber and the smell does not go away when added to the other ingredients. some people just do not appreciate the odor. Also, unrefined shea butter requires extra stability to keep the texture smooth. The potential for graininess in the finished product is much higher with unrefined shea butter. There are, however, different levels of refinement. When shea butter is extracted from the shea nut and the natural butter is filtered to remove any impurities, the result is a creamy off white color and a high quality pure product. This "naturally refined" shea butter uses physical refinement mechanisms (cheesecloth and/or clay) to remove impurities. All of KYI's shea butter is naturally refined resulting in the creamy off white color, retaining the majority of its beneficial oils and fats, and reducing any impurities. Additionally, shea butter can also be "ultra-refined" using chemcials. Ultra-refined shea butter is the pure white shea butter with no odor at all that you sometimes see.

Beneficial Ingredients

  • Shea Butter is a beautiful vegetable fat that is found in the nuts of the Shea Tree from Africa. The butter is a solid that will melt when warmed.
  • Shea butter is high in Vitamin A, E and F. These vitamins stimulate collagen and elastic production, making them great at repairing and reducing fine lines associated with aging. Another important note to make is that Shea butter does not clog pores, so people who are prone to acne will find relief knowing this product will not contribute to a breakout.
  • Shea butter is very healing for the skin. I know this from experience. I was very bruised and had some minor cuts after a short illness, I used KYI Shea butter daily on my wounds and bruises. It was amazing how soothing and healing this nutrient rich butter was. The bruises were nicely healed and my skin was supple, looking brand new.
  • Shea butter is healing because of the high percentage of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that stimulate healing.

  • Jojoba oil. Because Jojoba oil is actually a wax, it is odorless and less likely to become rancid over a long period of time.
  • Provides lasting hydration . it doesn’t evaporate like water-based moisturizers do.Theorized that it can “trick” the skin into thinking it has already produced enough sebum, creating balanced oil production.
  • Very stable. It doesn’t go rancid for a long time and retains it’s antioxidants.
  • Spreads and absorbs well . It won’t leave you feeling greasy. Loaded with essential fatty acids that nourish and repair, antioxidants (including Vitamin E) that combat aging, and plant sterols that reduce inflammation.
  • Anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial. It can help heal wounds.
  • Gentle and non- allergenic. Use it on eczema and psoriasis to help keep moisture in the skin.Suitable for all skin types.

Price and Size

Who is this product for?

Honestly, KYI Whipped Shea Butter can be used by all skin types. If you have sensitive skin this products is going to soothe and give you back some confidence in skin care. Dry skin types can find relief with re-hydration that penetrates deep into the skins tissues.Anti-aging skin types will love the hydration and collagen production, improving the skins texture, smoothing it out nicely.

I love to use this product after I shave, it calms the tissues and prevents any dry skin forming over the hair follicles. Keeping your skin this hydrated and nourished will also prevent ingrown hairs. I always treat any area after it has been shaved with superior nourishment. KYI always works.

How well does it work?

You are getting an amazing product that works. KYI Whipped Shea Butter is healing, and nourishing to the skin. The way I will  describe it is like this; I feel like I have applied a protective, second skin, that is brand new and full of life.

Shea Butter has been a favorite ingredient of mine for a long time. It is reliable and safe. I consider it a must have skin care products, using it for all skin concerns, including sunburn to dehydrated skin.

How Long Will it Last? What is the Shelf Life?

I use mine practicality everyday. I use it straight, or add essential oils and massage into my skin. It has lasted me a long time, For the price, my expectations have bee succeeded. I think you could get well over 3 moths with daily use, and a shelf life of 10 months. My rule of thumb with organic skin care is you should use up your product within 10 months. Besides, why bother owning it if your not totally indulging in it? :)
