Hazelnut oil skin benefits

When hazelnuts come up, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Nutella? Nope, wrong answer. That creamy chocolate spread isn’t the only thing hazelnuts are good for. Think again and try something more like healthy skin, nourished hair and improved health. Now that sounds a lot better, doesn’t it? Long before being widely marketed as part of a chocolate, in the ancient times hazelnuts and their oil were used for preserving youth of the skin, moisturizing the hair giving it rich shine and smoothness and improving overall health as a good source of protein.

Now go grab a handful of those to munch on while reading the rest of the benefits below.

Hazelnut Oils Skin Benefits

Locks in Moisture

Hydration is important for the skin just as it is for the hair. Hazelnuts as abundant in Vitamin E which is appropriated by A and C vitamins as important antioxidants. When these 3 combine their forces, they are able to fight off wrinkles and slow down premature aging due to the loss of elasticity and moisture. The hazelnut oil conditions the skin, keeping it soft and smooth, and after few weeks of use, you can notice that your skin now looks visibly radiant, delaying the early onset of aging signs. Remember, moisture provides elasticity and elasticity fights off wrinkles.

High In Linoleic Fatty Acid

Linoleic acid is an unsaturated acid that holds many benefits for your skin including reduction of acne, anti-inflammatory properties and effectively retains moisture for skin elasticity. Recently, a study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, says that acne patients have been shown to have low levels of linoleic acid in their skin surface lipids – a.k.a sebum, which means that if you want to get rid of annoying acne you have to use linoleic-containing products. Good news is that you should look no more because hazelnut oil has about 25% linoleic acid in its content which is enough to aid in the fight against acne.

Acne Be Gone!

And in a continuance of the foregoing, we cannot talk about skin health without mentioning the most widely spread problem: Acne and blemishes. By applying hazelnut oil on your affected area, it balances the oil production whether you have oily or dry skin. And since balance is the key to health, your acne will soon be gone.

A Good Source Of Oleic Fatty Acid

66 to 85% of its contents belong to the oleic fatty acid. Namely, an oil like the hazelnut which contains a good amount of this fatty acid is very good for people with dry skin problems as it can deliver heavier moisture than even your most potent night cream.

Note: Acne-prone folks might find that these oils break them out, especially those dealing with conditions like rosacea or seborrhea, may find that high-oleic acids exacerbate those problems. However using hazelnut oil every now and then will make your acne disappear because of the mixture with the rest of the compounds that are very healthy for your skin.

hazelnut oil skin benefits - sun protection

UV Protectant

If you’re against using chemicals-full creams and sunscreens to protect your skin from the harsh UV rays daily, you can simply opt for hazelnut oil.

NATURAL SUNSCREEN RECIPE

If you’re looking for a natural sunscreen, just mix a few drops each of sesame, avocado, walnut, and hazelnut oils and apply this mixed oil in your skin daily to get protection from UV rays daily.

NOTE: Do not use this mixture while sunbathing if your skin hadn’t been exposed to the sun before. When using natural sunscreens your skin needs adjustment to the strong sun rays.

Freshness & Elasticity

Due to its high antioxidant content, hazelnut oil plays a vital role in keeping the skin look fresh and glowing. The antioxidants combat the free radicals, which, if left untamed, could damage your skin and speed up the aging visibly. The flavonoids along with the antioxidants stimulate the regeneration of skin cells. This will eliminate the dead cells, rendering a visibly healthier and younger looking skin.

Oil Cleansing Treatment

If you’re looking for a good oil for your oil cleansing routine, then you might want to try hazelnut oil. This oil is a powerful astringent oil which has drying properties to the skin, but when applied in the right combo with other oils it does wonders. Hazelnut oil has been shown to be beneficial for combination and oily skin because it helps with the shrinking of the pores and balancing the sebum production, but it’s also even recommended (in smaller amounts though) for dry skin.

Sensitive Skin Friendly

If you have sensitive skin that is extremely hard to find nourishing products for, search no more. The gentle hydrating and conditioning properties of this nut makes it a perfect natural moisturizer for sensitive and dry skin.

NATURAL SCRUB RECIPE

Hazelnut use goes beyond its oil. So, besides applying the oil on your face, I will teach you how to make your own homemade natural scrub that will be extremely helpful in fighting these unwanted spots. Crush 1 tsp roasted hazelnuts and mix it with ½ tsp coffee powder and ½ tsp sugar in coconut oil or olive oil. Use this scrub 2 to 3 times per week, results are usually visible in a month or so if combined with the daily oil application.
