Biggest Skincare Trends & Innovations in 2019

Skincare is today more present than ever due to technological and scientific innovations. But also, thanks to influencers and celebrities who promote certain trends, practices, and lifestyles. Additionally, you can hear about other people’s experiences firsthand through message boards and testimonials since it’s hard to hide from the public in the era of the Internet.

And what once was thought too aggressive, today is the highest quality of skincare, like cosmetic treatments and plastic surgery for example. It suffices to say that because of higher transparency and well-informed customers, products and treatments evolved into safer versions of themselves. So, if you are looking for an ideal solution, check out these biggest skincare trends & innovations in 2019.

1. Chemical exfoliators slowly replacing manual exfoliation

Manual exfoliation includes removing dead skin cells by using rough scrubs consisting of sugar, for example. However, there are gentler ways to do this with chemical exfoliators like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). These two enter the skin and through chemical reaction offer a less aggressive way to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin.

But today, there is a new generation of chemical exfoliators - polyhydroxy acids (PHAs) which is even more effective and milder to the skin than the previous two. Due to this important property, it is more suited for people with sensitive skin, as well as safer and with better results. It may take more time with PHA then with AHA to get the results, but it brings a less-jarring effect. Additionally, PHA brings moisture into the skin which will at the same time hydrate and exfoliate.

2. Customized skincare is on the rise

Although you use beauty products based on your skin type, the newest trend has gone a bit further. Now, you can customize your skincare and get recommendations for products that are best suited for your skin. This is not something widely available yet, and only a few brands offer it, but others will quickly follow as is customary with hottest trends.

The idea is to provide individual and personalized care to every customer based on entered parameters. Namely, these include a series of questions that will help the brand to compute and create skincare ideal for you. The customers will have to provide answers about daily routines, needs, as well as a lifestyle which includes physical activity, habits, and diet. Also, the questionnaire addresses pollution and weather of the area where the customer lives.

In the end, the responses are analyzed through an algorithm that is intended to create the most-effective regime based on entered data. And after this comprehensive process, the customer will receive the recommended routine which is extremely personalized for their skin.

3. Bakuchiol for more retinol

Retinol is a very common part of the beauty products for its anti-aging and anti-acne properties. But retinol can be somewhat aggressive to the skin since it might cause pigmentation and irritation. However, Bakuchiol has the same properties as retinol by promoting the production of elastin and collagen, only without these side effects.

This makes Bakuchiol suitable for sensitive skin and it has quickly become a trendy ingredient of products for treating inflammatory processes like flushing. Since Bakuchiol has anti-aging properties, it is becoming a common part of the rejuvenating products especially of those for sensitive and easily irritated skin.

4. Acne stickers as the first line of defense

Acne stickers are an effective and comfortable way to keep your pimples under control and prevent further inflammation. They are the first line of defense when you have a breakout since they are intended to take care of the pimple right away. However, acne stickers are going to be even more effective thanks to evolving into patches with microneedles.

Regular stickers dry out the pimple which is something that will be remedied with this new generation of patches. Acne-Fighting ingredients will be concentrated on the microneedles and so offer a more focused delivery system. They will also include hyaluronic acid which will keep the skin hydrated while the active ingredient treats the acne.

5. CBD skincare is still popular

Just like in the previous year, CBD or cannabidiol is still quite popular in 2019. More and more brands release lines with CBD which is a very important development for the beauty industry. After all, not so long ago, CBD was only present in ingestible tinctures for inflammation.

But now, CBD is present in anti-aging products and others that fight inflammation from the outside. However, CBD oil and hemp seed oil are two different things and so products that contain one or the other will differ. For example, while CBD treats inflammation, the hemp seed oil is an excellent moisturizer since it will smooth the rough skin cells.

But when it comes to CBD oil, it’s best in products which also include vitamins A, D, and E which are also known to have soothing benefits for the skin. It is great for the treatment of acne as a topical cream for its antimicrobial properties for any part of the body. Also, it’s beneficial for skin conditions like rosacea, psoriasis, and eczema to relieve the symptoms.

6. Cosmetic treatments for pronounced results

Cosmetic treatments are no longer scrutinized and cast-out by society as they used to be barely a few years ago. Collagen and hyaluronic acid used as derma fillers are naturally-present substances in the skin which get depleted over time. By injecting them directly into the skin, the tonus is lifted and firmer, while texture becomes more hydrated.

Always consult with your dermatologists about the most appropriate cosmetic treatment for your skin and possible conditions. Hyperpigmentation, acne and other imperfections are easily treatable in painless and quick procedures which will give you a flawless complexion. Of course, combining cosmetic treatments with proper care at home is imperative to have the desired results and appearance.

7. Accent on the body-specific skincare

Skincare is about treating the whole body, not just the parts that are visible like neck, face, and hands. This year, there is a rise of products that include hyaluronic acid and AHAs for the whole body skincare. The skin needs to be nourished to stay firm and healthy, so using a lotion and body creams every day is imperative.

When talking about whole-body skincare, you will easily notice new technologies and practices available on the market. From devices that boost production of collagen to cosmetic treatments which are intended to improve the overall skin health.

Lastly

As you see, the biggest skincare trends & innovations in 2019 bring many new revelations and products into our beauty regime. Plastic and cosmetic surgery is no longer taboo, and can greatly help your skin and overall appearance. While on the other hand, advancements in beauty products bring more efficient and safer ingredients into the market.

But before you use any of this, always consult with a dermatologist or qualified professional to choose the best care for your skin. You can even try personalized beauty products which are a novel trend now but will mark 2020. Being healthy is more important than ever because of a chaotic lifestyle, and taking care of your skin falls under an important health issue as well.
