Aging Skin
Our skin is always changing. As we mature our skin becomes dryer, with less elasticity. The skin function’s are not as they use to be, we experience more fine lines and a lack of “tightness”. With these changes in our skin, our makeup techniques should also change.
How do we manage these changes? Can we still enjoy organic makeup?
The answer is YES ! Just because the skin is changing, and we have different concerns does not mean we are left out. Simply, there are wonderful solutions for mature skin and makeup, especially using organic makeup.
Organic makeup will have a twofold effect. Nourishing the skin to help prevent aging skin, and still having the pleasure of dressing up our face 🙂
In this article I will be discussing some tips to help with applying organic makeup to mature skin.
Tips on Applying Organic Makeup to Mature Skin
Tip 1 - Use a Tinted Moisturizer
Using a tinted moisturizer, rather than a full body foundation, will eliminate build up of product along the fine lines we experience with mature skin.
It will also give you the much needed moisture your skin needs.
Avoid matte foundations, matte will only show fine lines and dryness.
Tip 2 - Use a Light Powder Foundation
As well as a light bodied foundation, use a light powder. Apply a soft dusting, this will help create a vibrant look.
Tip 3 - Use Makeup Brushes
This will help you pick up the right amount of product that is harder to control with our hands.
Brushes will also help you get a flawless, smooth look, by working areas that are hard to reach with your fingers.
You will have better control with blemishes and hyper-pigmentation coverage.

Tip 4- Use a Light Blush and Bronzers
Don’t use bold colors. Keep the blush on the apples of your cheeks. Drawing color outside will show more “loose skin”
A light natural hue blush on the apple of your cheeks will give you the look of a lift.
Tip 5 - Use Sandy and Pink Colors
Our eyes are a beautiful feature, regardless of age! But as skin ages, your eyes develop more lines and wrinkles. Sandy and pink colors will help “hide” the fine lines.
Darker colors will only make the lines more obvious, and in fact make you look older. This is why young girls use the dark smokey eye look. It makes them appear older.
Another important tip on eyes is, do not use glitter. Glitter creates a very unappealing look.

Tip 6 - Use a Lip Brush to Apply Lipstick
It gives you more control with application. You can avoid seepage of the product into the fine lines around the lip. A lip liner pencil will also cause seepage. Simply, the best way to apply lipstick is with a brush.
Avoid brown colors, especially if you have any hyper-pigmentaion or dark circles under the eyes. Browns will bring attention to those areas.
Tip 7 - Natural and Calming Colors are Best
You can look great when you keep it simple. Overuse of colors and dramatic techniques will not accommodate mature skin. But do not think that doesn’t leave you much variety. There is an amazing amount colors and techniques to use, just make sure to keep it subtle.
Embrace change ! Skin matures and so do we, and so should our look. We don’t have to try to mimic the younger styles. Have fun with it. Use these tips and you will find you can enjoy makeup, and enjoy looking great !
