7 Effective Natural Beauty Hacks You Probably Didn’t Know About

December 8, 2015 Andrea 2 Comments

Looking beautiful has never been easier. As a matter of fact, the best beauty solutions to most of your skin care frustrations might just be hiding inside your cozy home.

To look extra beautiful for half the time and the cost, these natural beauty hacks are a sure must-do for you. They are so affordable yet effective you won’t look for anything else.

Hack #1: Get Clear, Glowing Skin With Oranges

If you’re plagued with dry and rough skin, there’s a good chance you’re not exfoliating properly. To start getting rid of those dead skin cells, you can grab an orange and slice it in half.

By rubbing the halves of this fruit on your elbows and knees, you’re not only exfoliating your dark areas but you’re also nourishing your skin with tons of benefits. For one, oranges are rich in Vitamin C. It’s one of the most powerful vitamins that can give you young looking skin.

Vitamin C has anti-oxidant properties to ward off the free radicals in your skin. It also has anti-aging capabilities to help prevent or slow down the signs of skin aging. Aside from youthful skin, you’ll also smell great right after rubbing this citrus fruit on your skin.

After exfoliating with the fruit, you can turn its peel into a natural face mask, too. You just need to take off the white fibrous part of the peel and let it dry under the sun for a few days.

Once they’re dry enough, you can start crushing the peel into a fine powder by using a blender or a food processor. To create the face mask, you can add either honey or yogurt to the orange powder.

If these processes are too tedious for you, you can grab a Vitamin C serum and apply it on your face. It’s the easiest and fastest way you can get the benefits of Vitamin C on your skin.

Hack #2: For Full Lashes, Try Castor Oil

Not all people are blessed to have full, gorgeous lashes. If this has been one of your beauty frustrations, then applying castor oil every night can do the trick.

Castor oil is effective in thickening hair and in protecting the strands against breakage. It’s also hydrating and deeply nourishing which helps boost hair growth.

For the best effect, you should apply castor oil from the base of your lashes to the tips. You need to make sure every strand is saturated with the oil. You can use an old but clean mascara for even distribution. To avoid irritation, try to keep the product from getting in contact with your eyes.

Hack #3: Use Apple Cider Vinegar as Spot Treatment

Sudden breakouts just when you’re set for an important date or meeting can be irritating. As a quick fix, you can dab some apple cider vinegar as a spot treatment.

ACV has antibacterial and antiseptic properties to effectively fight acne-causing bacteria. It’s also rich in enzymes and acids to help regulate your skin’s pH. As extra benefit, ACV possesses keratolytic effect which helps loosen dead skin cells.

You should, however, take extra caution in applying ACV on your skin as some people find it irritating. To make sure your skin can tolerate it, you can test it on a small area first.

Hack #4: Get Rid of Dark Undereye Circles With Green Tea

There are a lot of reasons why there’re puffiness and darkness around your undereye areas. It could be from lack of sleep, stress or environmental factors.

One of the best and easiest ways you can banish your dark undereye circles is green tea. It contains caffeine which constricts the blood vessels to reduce swelling. It also has tannins to lessen the puffiness.

To use green tea as an undereye treatment, make sure to keep the tea bags in the fridge after letting them steep properly. Once they’re cold enough, lay down and leave one tea bag on each of your eyes for 10 minutes. You can repeat the process as necessary.

Hack #5: To Get Fuller Lips, Apply Peppermint Oil

If you’ve always wanted to have bigger and fuller lips, then peppermint oil can help you. It’s an effective yet safe method of plumping up your lips.

Peppermint oil has a vasodilating effect when applied topically on your lips. The increased blood flow causes them to swell up just within minutes after application. To get the best out of this beauty hack, make sure to exfoliate beforehand.

Because it causes sensitivity issues in some people, you should try the oil on a small area of your lips first. After making sure that there’s no negative reaction, you can apply a drop of peppermint oil on the rest of your lips.

Hack #6: Effectively Remove Makeup With Olive Oil

Olive oil is one of the most hyped natural skin care remedies today. With all the great things it can do olive oil beauty hackfor your skin, it’s not surprising to find this oil as an effective makeup remover too.

From stubborn mascaras to eyeshadow pigments, olive oil can efficiently dissolve makeup off of your skin without clogging your pores. It’s also rich in antioxidants and nourishing properties to keep your skin supple and young looking.

To use olive oil as a makeup remover, pour a small amount of the oil on a cotton pad and apply it all over your face. After making sure you’ve cleaned your face thoroughly, rinse your skin with lukewarm water to remove any residue. In drying your skin, keep in mind to pat dry only. Rubbing the skin while it’s still wet can cause abrasion and damage.

Hack #7: Avoid Razor Cuts By Using Coconut Oil as Shaving Cream

Buying a shaving cream from beauty stores isn’t only expensive, it can be unsafe for your skin, too. As a safer and healthier alternative, you can try using coconut oil instead.

Coconut oil is rich with antibacterial properties. It’s ultra hydrating to leave your legs smooth and moisturized without the greasy and sticky feeling. Because it’s moisturizing, you can avoid the razor bumps and cuts most shaving cream can’t prevent.

For best result, you can apply a thin layer of coconut oil on your skin prior to shaving. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the oil to deeply penetrate your skin. Using a new shaver, glide it against the direction of your hair growth. Go as close as possible to the skin but avoid running the razor over the same area twice.

There are tons of beauty hacks that can help you look and feel more beautiful. While it may be a little hard to determine which one will work best for your skin, in the end it’s all about making sure your skin is safe and healthy.
